I was wondering if any one has any suggestions for any good Maryland wines. ECAdmin I know you reviewed that viognier from Black Ankle Vineyard, which I plan on trying, but any other good suggestions. I am heading up to maryland in 2 weeks and wanted to make a few nice wine purchases while I was there.

I'll actually be up there myself around that same time (DC actually but meh it's close enough). around where are you going to be?
as for other Maryland wines, Cassinelli Winery makes some nice ones, my favorite is their Riesling. Frederick Cellars laso has some nice wines, their merlot is really nice and has won a few medals too.
other then that I can't think of any other good ones of the top of my head right now. any one else have some suggestions?
I will be a bit further into maryland then DC, I will be in the Baltimore area. I will check to see if I can find those wines in a store while I'm there. anyone know of any vineyards or wineries that might be near by baltimore that I might be able to visit on my time off?
I believe Boordy Vineyards is just outside of baltimore if you're interested. I haven't had their wine yet, so i can't tell you what they're like. I have heard good things though.
I googled Boordy vineyards and they seem the right distance for an outing while I'm in Baltimore. I will have to tell you how what I think of it after my visit.
Well I look forward to hearing about what its like. I may also have to find one of their wines in a store when im in DC
Just got back from my time in Baltimore, and did get a chance to take a quick trip to Boordy Vineyards. I know you said you haven't been there or tried the wines but I have to thank you ECAdmin for the recommendation. It was a really nice place and had some wines that I enjoyed a lot.
And if you haven't gotten around to buying one of their wines then you really need to buy the Eisling. It's a reisling wine that is a bit more sweet. And I know you said you don't generally like sweet wines in you're reviews, but I think it is definitely something you should look into.
Again thanks for the suggestion.
I am really glad that you enjoyed the place, as I said I heard good things so I was hoping you would enjoy it. and I did get a chance to get one of their wines though, but it was their Chardonnay (which was nice). If I see their Eisling around I will have to give it a try then if you thought it was that good.
I hope you do get a bottle of the Eisling, it is a very nice wine. And out of curiosity will you be reviewing the Chardonnay. I had it while I was there and liked it, but I would like to hear your opinion on it.
I don't know when I'll be up in Maryland next and I'm wanting to try this Eisling you keep going on about. Any of you guys know if there is somewhere online I can get it?
It always seems to be hit or miss to buy wine online, and unfortunately Boordy Vineyards doesn't sell their wines themselves online. A good place though to find wines online tends to be Snooth, it's like an online database of retailers. You can find the link to their Boordy Vineyard Area Here.
Other then that look around at some stores near you, you never know when you find something you didn't expect.
