Gewurztraminer 2009 - Afton Mountain Vineyards - Afton, VA
$19.00
The Gewurztraminer is my favorite wine at Afton Mountain Vineyards! This “Gewurz” is very aromatic and flavorful. It’s a dry wine, but not intensely dry. I found it to be dryer than your typical Gewurztraminer, but not as dry as say - a Chardonnay. Afton’s Gewurz has a floral nose, with just a touch of pepper. I tasted a complex combination of fruit and floral, a bit of a battle between the two trying to see who can stand out the most. For me, the fruit one over in taste with the orange peel. I also got a hint of the pepper, making the wine a little spicy. The Gewurz has a very crisp, clean finish. I enjoyed this wine with a salad, topped with a Asian sesame dressing. I think it would also be great with any seafood dish or spicy meal. As always, I recommend a trip to Afton Mountain Vineyards. The views are breathtaking, the service is friendly and the wine is well, delicious.
If you would like to purchase this wine you can get it from Snooth here or check out the Vineyard here. Remember to make sure they can ship to your state.
