Late harvest wines are typically hit or miss with me since I am not a huge fan of overly sweet wines. Because of this I honestly wasn’t expecting too much when I got a hold of a bottle of this particular one from Rhode Island. I’m pleased to say though that this was quite enjoyable, especially chilled to the bone in this heat we’ve been having. When you get a good whiff of this wine you are drawn into some pretty compelling aromas. First thing I noticed was this lovely smell of Apricot, as well as some other fruit I couldn’t quite place. I also got an interesting orange zest smell to it that I wasn’t expecting (I do love the unexpected). After taking a sip I was immediately relieved to find that this wine, though sweet, wasn’t as sweet as I had anticipated. And with that I was able to fully enjoy the amazing flavours of Apricot, peach and even a bit of honey that come together so well in this wine. And to top it all off this had an amazingly smooth, long finish which I always love getting in a wine. As for food, I had this with fruit platter which was quite enjoyable. Though this could go great with some types of cheese, cake and one friend suggested pouring it over some ice cream (unfortunately we had none at the time). In the end I think you will enjoy this wine, especially if you like Vidal Blanc or generally sweeter white dessert wines. And of course it comes with a pretty low price point, so what are you waiting for.
If you would like to purchase this wine you can get it direct from the vineyard here or from Snooth.com here. Remember to make sure they can ship to your state.
