2009 Rose – The Hague Winery – VA

2009 Rose – The Hague Winery – Hague, VA

$13.95

With the weather starting to warm up again the mind begins to wonder back to hotter days gone by and the refreshing wines drank to quench ones thirst. Many times that somewhat strange train of thought will lead you back to a delicious Rose, chilled of course, which has become a standard warm weather wine these days. And so we come to Hague Winery and their oh so wonderful Rose of Cab Franc to stave off this odd March heat, but will it be enough?

Barn Red – Savage Oakes Vineyard & Winery – ME

Barn Red – Savage Oakes Vineyard & Winery – Union, ME

$14.99

Now here we have two rarities in one bottle. For one thing this is a Maine wine, and there sadly aren’t many grape wines coming out of that state like this one. Secondly, this is a wine made from the Léon Millot hybrid grape which simply isn’t used in a whole lot of wines around the world (though it os becoming more common). Thankfully for us though Savage Oakes decided to tackle both of these oddities in the wine world, and with satisfying results.

Mt. Airy Outing

The Mount Airy area is always a wonderful place to visit in Maryland, with plenty to see and do. So if you’re planning to head out to the area any time soon you would do well to visit some of the great wineries and vineyards that are scattered around there. And we here at ECoast Wines are here to lend you a hand in planning such a venture into the beautiful Maryland countryside to sip on a selection of delicious wines.

2007 Chambourcin – Linganore Winecellars – MD

2007 Chambourcin – Linganore Winecellars – Mount Airy, MD

$18.35

When it comes to the mid-Atlantic states you tend to get a lot of great Chambourcins being grown as it does so well in this climate. And it just so happens that this particular varietal is a favourite with us here at ECoast Wines. This of course means we like to try out any we can get our hands on and tend to hold them to a slightly higher standard. So, how does this one hold up to others we’ve tried? read on and find out.

Barboursville Outing

A short trip just Northeast of Charlottesville, VA you will find yourself in the midst of some of Virginia’s finest vineyards and some of its most beautiful countryside. So we here at ECoast Wines are here to help you figure out a good day trip into the Barboursville area by telling you one of our favourite outings to do there.

2009 Two Consenting Grapes – Loew Vineyards – MD

2009 Two Consenting Grapes – Loew Vineyards – Mount Airy, MD

$15.00

This is quite the interesting white that certainly peaked my curiosity when I saw the grapes it was made from. This particular wine is a blend of good old reliable Chardonnay and a grape you don’t see to often in wine, Reliance. Vitus Labrusca ‘Reliance’ is a pink seedless varietal that is typically used as a table grape, though on occasion you do see it in some new world wines. So because of this rarity of use I was quickly drawn into purchasing this one to give it a go.
